Varanasi to Ayodhya: 200 km, 4-5 Hours — Route, Cab Fares & Timing (2026)

Varanasi to Ayodhya is 200 km by road via NH-56, a 4-5 hour drive on a mostly 4-lane highway. Round trip runs about 400 km, which crosses our 250 km/day minimum into a two-day booking for most groups. Fares start at ₹11/km for a sedan, with Ertiga, Innova, a tempo traveller on rent in Varanasi and Urbania vans available for larger groups.

Distance & Route Options

Route Distance Drive Time Road Condition
Via NH-56, through Jaunpur (recommended) ~200 km 4–5 hours 4-lane for most of the route; stop at Jaunpur
Via Sultanpur ~220 km 5–6 hours Mixed; some stretches under construction

We route via NH-56 through Jaunpur. It is the shorter option, the road is in better condition, and Jaunpur is a break point roughly halfway with food options.
